■ Shannen Doherty will guest star in the season four premiere of Riverdale, which is set to honor Luke Perry. The show’s executive producer, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, made the announcement Sunday at Comic-Con in San Diego. Perry, who died in March after suffering a massive stroke at age 52, played Doherty’s love interest on Beverly Hills, 90210. On Riverdale, he played Fred Andrews, the father of lead character Archie Andrews. Doherty’s casting on Riverdale, said Aguirre-Sacasa, is something Perry was rooting for since season one. Her role is described as “pivotal” and “super-emotional.” The episode will air Oct. 9 on The CW.

■ Her name was “Lucille,” and in B.B. King’s hands she gave voice to the “King of the Blues.” Julien’s Auctions announced Tuesday that King’s black Gibson ES-345 prototype guitar is among the items from his estate that will go up for bid on Sept. 21. Julien’s says Gibson gave King the instrument for his 80th birthday. The headstock has “B.B. King 80” and a crown inlaid with mother-of-pearl. The guitar is estimated to be worth $80,000 to $100,000. The guitar was not the first to bear the name. The story goes that King first used that moniker for a guitar he rescued from a fire while he was playing an Arkansas club in 1949. The blaze broke out as two men fought over a woman, and the musician narrowly escaped death after he went back into the club to save his guitar, the auction house said. When King learned the woman’s name was Lucille, he named his guitar after her “to remind himself to never fight over a woman or run into a burning building,” the auction house said. The National Medal of Arts that President George H.W. Bush presented to King in 1990 is also up for auction. So are King’s touring van, jewelry and clothing.

■ Actress Sonja Sohn, who played a detective in the HBO series The Wire, is facing charges of felony possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. The sheriff’s office in Dare County, N.C., said that Sohn, whose legal name is Sonja Plack, was arrested after midnight Sunday in Manteo on the Outer Banks. Authorities said it happened after a traffic stop. Sohn was a passenger in the vehicle. The sheriff’s office reported that a K-9 detected the smell of drugs, and a purse with cocaine and drug paraphernalia was found after a search. Bail was set at $1,500 for the 55-year-old actress, and she was released from the county detention center. Sohn also has had roles in TV series including The Chi and The Originals.
