Sterling Scholars Speaker Series

FAIRFIELD BAY — As part of the Sterling Scholars Speaker Series, Christophe­r Koy will speak from 11:30 a.m. to

1 p.m. in the Fireside Room of the Indian Hills Golf Club. Koy will present a program about Charles Alexander Eastman, a Santee Dakota physician educated at Boston University, a writer, a national lecturer and a reformer. The event is free and open to the public. Purchase of lunch is optional. The series, co-sponsored by the Fairfield Bay Rotary Club, takes place the first Wednesday of each month.

Canning Fall Vegetables BATESVILLE — The Independen­ce County Library, 267 E. Oil-Painting Class HARDY — The Hardy Senior Life Center, 304 Johnson St., will host an oil-painting class with artist Brenda Lawrence at

1 p.m. Lawrence is a certified Bob Ross instructor in landscapes and florals and also teaches Jenkins & Wilson Bickford paint classes. She will supply the canvas and all the supplies needed for a fee of $25. The class’s painting will be of a lighthouse over the moonlit ocean. Reservatio­ns are required. Golf Tournament HORSESHOE BEND — The Fulton County Hospital Foundation will host its 10th annual golf tournament at the Turkey Mountain Golf Course.
