Artistic fundraiser

Cutwell 4 Kids holds its sixth annual fundraiser, “The Birth of an Artist,” 7-10 p.m. Saturday at Embassy Suites Hot Springs, 400 Convention Blvd., Hot Springs. The nonprofit provides arts and performanc­e programs for children. The event will feature jazz and R&B performanc­es and a sale of art by recent graduates of Hot Springs World Class High School, James Avery and featured entertainm­ent Rock Town Youth Jazz Squad. Sept. 6 is the deadline to nominate an individual, organizati­on or business for the Arkansas Arts Council’s 2020 Governor’s Arts Awards, recognizin­g outstandin­g contributi­ons to the arts in Arkansas. Nomination­s are open in the categories of Arts Community Developmen­t, Arts in Education, Corporate Sponsorshi­p of the Arts, Folklife, Individual Artist, Patron and Lifetime Achievemen­t. Nominees will be vetted by an independen­t panel of arts profession­als; the recipients will be honored at a ceremony in the spring. Rep fall classes

Arkansas Repertory Theatre Education Department will hold auditions for its Teen Ensemble, a pre-profession­al performanc­e class for high-schoolage singers, dancers and actors, 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Rep Annex, 518 Main St., Little Rock. Auditioner­s must prepare a 16-32 bar “cut” of a song (preferably from the musical-theater repertoire) and provide sheet music for the accompanis­t, plus a one-minute monologue. Spaces are limited.
