Fall Job Fair 2019
2019 Fall Job Fair
Tuesday, Oct. 8
9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Statehouse Convention Center, Little Rock
Whether currently unemployed or simply looking for a new career path, job seekers will want to make plans to attend this year’s Fall Job Fair.
The event, which is free to the public, will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Statehouse Convention Center in downtown Little Rock. The Fall Job Fair is presented by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
“The Fall Job Fair gives attendees a chance to visit with local businesses all in one place in one day, said Amanda Copley, marketing and events director for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. “The face-to-face time really gives job seekers the chance to see if this business is right for them.”
A number of area employers will be represented at the fair, along with representatives from the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services and the Black HR Professionals Network.
Job seekers will have the opportunity to apply for positions in all kinds of career fields, ranging from entry-level jobs to professional and management positions.
Resume reviews will be offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. by the Black HR Professionals Network, along with tips to help attendees create a more effective resume.
Job seekers should keep in mind that the job fair is a fast-paced environment, and although they should be prepared for an interview, they may not actually be interviewed during the fair.
The following tips can help job seekers make the most of the opportunities provided by this year’s Fall Job Fair.
Check out the employment advertisements in the Jobs Arkansas section of today’s Arkansas Democrat Gazette to find open positions and qualifications with participating companies; see the list of prospective employers at left.
Dress comfortably but conservatively, preferably in professional or business-casual attire. Avoid heavy makeup and trendy or flashy clothes or jewelry.
Maintain a positive attitude and a friendly, but not casual, demeanor.
Bring at least 50 copies of your resume to distribute to prospective employers.
Be sure to bring pens with blue or black ink to fill out applications, as well as paper to take notes at various booths.
“The Jobs Arkansas section and website are great resources for job seekers and employers,” Copley said. “We are the No. 1 recruitment solution in Arkansas.”
