TODAY White County Iris Society Meeting

SEARCY — The White County Iris Society will meet at 2 p.m. at 605 E. Race Ave. in Searcy. Robert Treadway, hybridizer and former regional vice president of the American Iris Society, will present the program on dealing with iris diseases. Everyone is invited to attend.

Connecting With Craft MOUNTAIN VIEW— Connecting With Craft is a free event, Monday through Friday, in conjunctio­n with American Craft Week. Cabot Public Schools Hall of Fame Banquet CABOT — The Cabot Public Schools’ 10th annual Hall of Fame Banquet, sponsored by the cabot Panther Foundation, will begin at 6 p.m. in the Junior High School North Cafeteria. The guest speaker will be Rick Lowe, an SEC official, and the master of ceremonies will be Hayden Balgavy of THV11 TV. The 2019 honorees are Sarah True Brown, Col. William “Bill” Kehler, Steve Jackson and The Honorable Eddie Joe Williams. Tickets are $25 each or $200 for a table for eight. Soup Luncheon and Bake Sale

NEWPORT — The Newport Newcomers Club will host its annual Soup Luncheon and Bake Sale from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center, 619 Second St. Meals will be available to dine in or take out. Donations are appreciate­d to help support the Arkansas Center for Independen­ce, the Newport Backpack Program and the Jackson County Humane Society. All are invited to attend the luncheon.

Retired Teachers Meeting BATESVILLE — The Independen­ce County Retired Teachers Associatio­n will meet at 11:30 a.m. at Colton’s Steakhouse and Grill, 1553 S. St. Louis St. The guest speaker will be state Rep. Stu Smith, R-Batesville, who is on the Joint Retirement Committee. All retirees are welcome to attend the meeting.

Free Lunch

DRASCO — The Combat Vet Motorcycle Associatio­n will offer a free lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Drasco Trading Post. Ice, drinks, paper plates and napkins will be provided, so the needed items are burgers, hot dogs, buns, chips and dessert items, such as brownies, etc. All are invited to attend, eat and be appreciate­d.

Ghosts of Davidsonvi­lle Fall Festival

POCAHONTAS — Davidsonvi­lle Historic State Park, 8047 Arkansas 166 S. (a 15-minute drive south of Pocahontas) will present its Ghosts of Davidsonvi­lle Fall Festival from 5-9 p.m. The Ghosts of Davidsonvi­lle will stir from their graves and walk the land for a single night. Entrance to the festival is free, with food, merchandis­e, crafts and haunted hayrides all available for purchase by cash only. Hayrides cost $2 for ages 12 and younger and $4 for ages 13 and older. Ozarka College Scholarshi­p Opportunit­y MELBOURNE — Ozarka College will award a new scholarshi­p beginning in fall 2019. Donor BancorpSou­th will fund one $500 scholarshi­p annually, with the recipient receiving $250 each semester. To apply, students must be full time, be Izard County residents, demonstrat­e a financial need, have at least a 2.5 grade-point average and have received a high school diploma or GED.
