STEM trailblaze­r ALONZO “AL” ASHLEY transition­ed to his heavenly resting place on Friday, October 4th. He is survived by his wife, Wanda Bynum Ashley; step-daughter, Kia Blair (Rick); grandchild­ren, Joshua and Kiana Blair; brothers, Roland (Mary) Ashley, Wendall (Elaine) Ashley, and numerous nieces and nephews. Ashley received the Presidenti­al Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematic­s and Engineerin­g Mentoring and other STEM awards. He created a Summer Science Research program at Stanford University helping thousands of students for 50 years. DWIGHT BINYON has passed away at the age of 69. He was a caring and loving son, brother, uncle, husband, and a great friend. Dwight was a fan of the Beatles and the Arkansas Razorbacks. We all love and miss him and hope he finds peace along the long winding road to Heaven.

Survivors include his mother, June Binyon; brother, Charles Binyon; sister, Lisa Binyon; nephews, John Binyon, Justin Jones, and Matt Debusk; and nieces, Jade Debusk and Ceianna Jones.

GARLAND WAYNE HAMPTON, 63, of Sherwood transition­ed on Sunday October 6, 2019.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Charles Andrew and Josie Lee Hampton, two brothers, and a sister. OMER A. HERT JR., 85, of Jacksonvil­le, Arkansas passed from this life on October 7, 2019. He served in both the United State Navy and United State Air Force which he retired from in 1972.

Omer leaves behind his loving wife, Christine; daughter, Kathey D’Amore (Denato); granddaugh­ters, Danielle (Derek) and Dominique (Daniel); two great-granddaugh­ters; brother, Walt Hert and a host of other family and friends.

BETTY ANN HOWSLEY, 75, of Scott, Arkansas went to be with the Lord October 7, 2019 surrounded by her family.

Betty was born May 23, 1944 in Moro, Arkansas to the late William and Katherine (Cagle) West.

Betty was a wonderful example of a Christian lady and servant of the Lord. She was a life-long member of Gospel of Peace Tabernacle. Betty retired from Arkansas Cardiology Clinic and then opened her first business, CLP Services, Inc., with her partner, Dan. Betty was a quiet, meek, and humble lady who may have been small in stature but had an enormous impact on others. Her hard work ethic made others think she was a “workaholic”. Betty loved her family more than anything and enjoyed travelling.

Preceding Betty in death are her parents; brother, Larry West; sisters: Alice Lawson and Wilma West; and granddaugh­ter, Summer Michelle Evans. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving husband, Dan Mooney of Scott, Arkansas; son, Danny Evans and wife Tina of Lonoke, Arkansas; daughter, Cyndi Smith of North Little Rock, Arkansas; three grandchild­ren: Tiffany Evans and partner TaShonda, Nikki Evans, and Justin Chambers and wife Tasha; five great-grandchild­ren; and many family members and friends who love Betty and will miss her always.

BEVERLY PHILLIPS, 71, of North Little Rock, Ark., passed away on October 7, 2019 surrounded by her loved ones.

Beverly was born in Springfiel­d, Mo., in 1947 to parents Dale and Betty King. The family moved to Wichita, Kan., where Beverly attended and graduated from Southeast High school. She was employed by Frank Fletcher Industries where she kept books for over 30 years until she retired.

Beverly was known for her big heart, beautiful smile, her sense of humor and infectious laugh. She spent the last years of her life dancing and singing karaoke with the love of her life, husband Bobby Phillips.

Beverly is survived by her mother Betty King; sister, Shari Wildoner; nieces Tasha, Nikki and Brianna; husband Bobby Phillips; her children Lisa Peterson (Trey), Jason Rariden (Karen); stepdaught­ers, Hannah, Olivia and Brigette Phillips; grandchild­ren, Shalae Griswold (Kevin), Devin Snyder (Lynn), Austin Rariden (Hannah), Allison Rariden, Lily and Miles Phillips; and great-grandson, Gavin Rariden.

A celebratio­n of life will be held at the American Legion, the date has yet to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Carti Cancer Center, 8901 Carti Way, Little Rock, Ark. 72205. The family would like to thank Dr. Fant and Dr. Wilder of Carti and Arkansas Hospice.

FRANCES ELIZABETH REDDIN, 93, of Jacksonvil­le died Tuesday, October 8, 2019. She was born October 27, 1925 in Weldon to the late George Washington Watley and Fannie Elizabeth Carroll Watley. She was a member of Second Baptist Church and was strong in her Southern Baptist faith. She was a hard worker and enjoyed working as the cashier for Little Rock Dodge. Mrs. Reddin was a good friend with a great sense of humor. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Reddin was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Reddin; sisters, Alice Faulkner and Irene Brown and great-grandson, Chase Ward.

Mrs. Reddin is survived by her children, Robin Batterson (Danny Davis) of Beebe, Richard Reddin (Karen) of Hensley and Ronald Reddin (Julie) of Conway; grandchild­ren, Matthew Reddin, Cristy Woodall and Todd Batterton (Jessica) and great-grandchild­ren, Gabrial, Asher and Finley (on the way).

WILLIAM MICHAEL SCHWARTZ, age 69, of Little Rock, Ark., died Sunday, October 6, 2019 in Hospice Home Care in Little Rock, Ark. He was born August 20, 1950 in Tyler, Texas, a son of the late William John Schwartz and Joyce Eveline Burks Schwartz. He was a long-time hairdresse­r in Little Rock, where he owned and operated the Summit House Beauty Salon and later owned and operated Plaza Towers Beauty Salon. He graduated from the Coco Beach Beauty College in Florida. He was preceded in death by a brother Larry Wayne Schwartz Sr. and a sister Patricia Ann Schwartz Self.

He is survived by his spouse Daniel Clanton whom he married April 17, 2012. Daniel and Michael had 46½ years together before his death. Also surviving are his sister-in-law Carol Schwartz; nephews, Larry Wayne Schwartz Jr., Milton Emmons Oppen, Christophe­r Dale Schwartz, and Mark Oppen and a niece, Natalie Schwartz Wells. His sister-in-law, his nephews, and his niece live in Texas.
