The University of Central Arkansas played well early against Tennessee on Thursday, trailing 20-18 at the end of the first quarter, but the Lady Volunteers outscored the Sugar Bears 43-18 in the final three quarters at Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, Tenn.

UCA took its only lead early in the second quarter when a three-pointer by Hannah Langhi gave the Sugar Bears a 23-22 lead with 9:17 left in the first half. Jordan Horston then hit one of two free throws to tie the game at 23-23, and Zaay Green hit a three-pointer to give Tennessee the lead for good at 2623 with 8:57 remaining. Horston hit a jumper as time expired to give the Lady Vols a 33-25 halftime lead.

Central Arkansas was held to 25.4% shooting (15 of 59) from the floor and made 2 of 21 three-pointers. The Sugar Bears didn’t fare any better from the free-throw line, hitting 4 of 12 attempts. Tennessee shot 50% (29 of 58) from the floor, but hit only 4 of 13 on three-pointers and went 1 for 3 from the free-throw line.

Taylor Sells led UCA with 10 points, while Ayanna Trigg had 6 and Langhi finished with 5. Horston scored a gamehigh 17 points for Tennessee, and Green finished with 9.
