Sweethearts, dads enjoy dance, dining

As the sun set behind the Arkansas River bridges to the west, Central Arkansas American Heart Association Sweethearts and their fathers were learning the two-step on a large floating dock to the east at the new Rock Water Marina.

The annual father-daughter barbecue is one of several social events the sweethearts participate in throughout the Sweetheart Program that culminates with the Heart Ball on April 4. In addition to learning various Western-style dances, the young women and their dads enjoyed a dinner from Corky’s Barbecue.

The Sweetheart program, founded by Eileen and Dr. Ricardo Sotomora, teaches participants about heart health and provides opportunities for volunteering and socializing.
