Late push propels Henderson State

Rel Johnson’s free throw with 18 seconds left broke a tie as Henderson State University earned a 67-63 victory over Southeaste­rn Oklahoma State on Saturday in Arkadelphi­a.

Raekwon Rogers had 17 points and eight rebounds to lead the Reddies (14-4, 9-3 Great American Conference), who remained unbeaten at home this season. Chris Owens added 11 points and five rebounds.

Kevin Buckingham powered Southeaste­rn Oklahoma State (15-4, 9-3) with 33 points and 11 rebounds.

In other Great American Conference men’s games Saturday, Jalen Brooks had 17 points and 13 rebounds, Aaron Lucas scored 16 and Decante Brooks had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Southern Arkansas University (9-9, 6-6) in a 57-54 victory over Southern Nazarene (14-6, 8-4) in Magnolia. … KJ Lesure scored 23 points and Austin Hardy added 15 points for the University of Arkansas-Monticello (11-8, 5-7) in an 80-77 loss to Oklahoma Baptist (12-6, 7-5) in Magnolia. … R.J.
