Events for School Choice Week set
The Reform Alliance of Arkansas, along with Americans for Prosperity Foundation and ACE Scholarships, are sponsoring events this week to commemorate National School Choice Week, Jan. 26-Feb. 1.
“[The] week will be a great opportunity for all Arkansans to join together in supporting school choice, a vital part of our children’s education and future,” said Valerie Pruitt, executive director of the alliance.
At 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, a “Virtual Town Hall” will be held on The Reform Alliance’s Facebook page: @ARReformAlliance. The event will be moderated by Arkansas State Teachers Association Executive Director Michele Ballentine-Linch.
Panel members will be Patrick Wolf, who is the 21st Century Chair in School Choice and professor; Katie Hatley, superintendent of Graduate Arkansas Charter School; Tammy Fletcher of Abundant Life Christian Academy; and Denise Crace, an educator at LISA Academy charter school.
A statewide rally is scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Robinson Center, 426 W. Markham St., in Little Rock.
There is also a screening at 6 p.m. Thursday of the movie Miss Virginia in the Riverdale 10, at 2600 Cantrell Road, in Little Rock. However, the seats have been spoken for, so there is a waiting list for people who would like to attend a future showing of the movie. The film tells the story of a Little Rock resident’s efforts to start a school voucher program when she lived in Washington D.C.
