MILDRED LOIS ROFF WALLER died on February 19, 2020,

in North Little Rock, Ark.

Lois was the widow of Tom W. Waller and the mother of Bruce (Jo Anne) Waller, Whit Waller, Jean (Curtis) Elwell, Janet (Mike) Heine and Mark Waller. She is also survived by 10 grandchild­ren, and three great-grandchild­ren.

Lois was born March 1, 1921, in Newark, New Jersey, and raised in Chicago, Ill. After World War II, she and her husband Tom settled in Girard, Kan., and then later moved to North Little Rock in early 1965. Lois was a graduate of the University of Chicago with a degree in Biology. In 1956, she earned her private pilot’s license with a solo flight in a Piper Cub. Lois was a life-long member of the Episcopal Church and a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in North Little Rock for 55 years. She served as the Director of St. Francis House in Little Rock from 1977 to 1986.

Lois began listening to the St. Louis Cardinals on the radio in the late 1940’s and her love of the Cardinals never wavered. Lois followed the Cardinals on radio and later on TV for over 70 years and was overjoyed when Al Hrabosky sent her birthday wishes live during a game broadcast in 2011.

A celebratio­n for the life of Lois Waller will be on Saturday, February 29 at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in North Little Rock. The visitation will be at 10:30 a.m., followed by the service with Holy Communion at 11 a.m. A reception will follow in the parish hall. The rector of St. Luke’s, the Rev. Carey Stone will officiate.
