W.L. “DUB” SNEED,

-

93, of Jacksonville, died February 19, 2020, peacefully in his home. Dub lived his early years in Bayou Meto Township and attended Jacksonville schools.

He served proudly in the Army Air Corps during WWII in Europe. After the war, he attended the University of Arkansas and studied engineering. It was in Fayetteville, where he met the love of his life, Elsie Casso and soon married and began their adventure together.

Dub was a creative, restless soul who worked and tinkered in several interesting careers. While living in California, he worked with Douglas Aircraft and was part of the Saturn missile project and Beckman Instruments as a designer. An entrepreneur at heart, Dub decided to move back to Arkansas to open his own business in Tool & Die, (Vision Tool), to be closer to his family. He also designed and patented a golf putter he named the 20/20 that was something very near and dear to his heart.

Dub is survived by his son, Dan Sneed (Sonya); daughters, Linda Sneed and Lorraine Owens (John); his two granddaughters, Jessica Maxwell and Tara Maxwell; and sister, Betty Knight. He loved his family, his church family and the green fairways of a golf course. He was a beautiful, independent soul that will be truly missed and remembered by many.

Services will be held at Jacksonville Assembly of God, 221 N. Elm St. at 1 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2020. Interment will follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Cabot. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 12 noon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Arkansas Hospice, 14 Parkstone Circle, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116.
