MONA LYNNE BURRIS,

63, of North Little Rock, Ark., passed away on February 21, 2020, surrounded in love by friends and family. Born on January 7, 1957, to Ben and Ramona Woods in Little Rock Ark., Mona graduated from NLR Northeast in 1975 and quickly launched a successful career in telecommunications. Starting at Southwestern Bell, Mona made stops at companies MCI and Fairfield Communications before returning to AT&T where she retired after an extremely successful career in sales. Once retired, Mona’s passion for travel took her to many destinations. From Paris to Amsterdam, Malta to Portugal and many more, Mona was a seasoned world traveler. Her main destination however was the U.K., where she spent her time with her daughter (Sara Lemoir) and grandchildren.

Filling many roles throughout her life, Mona was a remarkable, devoted and inspiring mother, Nona, GrandMona, sister, daughter, granddaughter, cousin, friend, caregiver, co-worker, neighbor, fiancée, wife, ex-wife, step-wife … she did it all and did it with all of her heart. No one felt unloved or excluded in Mona’s home or in her presence — there was always plenty of food, enough boxed wine, time to listen, compassion, laughter, music and singing (with favorites such as Patsy Cline, the Judds or anything Mamaw played on the piano), room at her table and more than enough room in her heart for everyone she encountered. Her love for her family, friends, and spending time with her children and grandchildren brought her the greatest joy.

Mona is survived by Sara Lemoir (daughter), Geno Jameson (son), Jerry Woods (brother), Jacob, Ethan and Connor Lemoir (grandchildren), as well as an endless list of beloved family and friends. She is preceded in death by Ramona Woods (mother), Ben Woods (father), Victoria Woods (stepmother) and Gladys Holland (grandmother).

A service celebrating Mona’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 26, from 3-5 p.m. at Griffin-Leggett Rest Hills in North Little Rock. www.griffinleggettresthills.com.
