LILLIAN FAYE REYNOLDS SHELTON

-

passed peacefully on Sunday, February 23, 2020 surrounded by her family and into the presence of her God.

She was born in Jerusalem, Arkansas on August 18, 1928 to Lonzo and Walsie Murdoch Reynolds. After graduation from Atkins High School, she attended what is now UA-Monticello and also Arkansas Tech University. Eventually, she moved to Little Rock where she married Charles R. Shelton and remained so until his death sixty years later. She retired from the American Red Cross.

In addition to her parents and husband, Lillian was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Reynolds. Survivors include her loving sister, Barbara Mullican; daughters, Becky Young and Susie Shelton; sons, Rick Shelton (Dana) and Dan Shelton (Susan); grandchildren, Joe Young (Emily), Robin Jones (Jimmy), Haley Shelton, Natalie Shelton, Daniel Shelton and Hannah Shelton; great-grandchildren, Zak Jones, Ava Jones, Tyler Thibeau, Lillie Young and Brian Young. She also leaves her Uncle Bill Murdoch (Katie) of Russellville and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. Lillian loved and was beloved by her grands and great-grands, and her role as “Mee Maw” was by far her greatest. An excellent cook and baker, she graciously opened her home on Sunday afternoons and holidays.

Lillian was an avid reader of the local newspaper and became a 91 year old iPad user with surprisingly little protest. Though Charlie was never a team sports fan, after his passing we discovered Mom’s TV preference to be whatever football or basketball game was playing on ESPN.

A member of Geyer Springs United Methodist Church for over 60 years, she so loved the fellowship of her church family and was a member of the choir. Lillian is the epitome of sanctified grace. The sweet lady you saw in church lived her private life in the same way, Christian charity, always putting others before herself, and praying for those in need.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). A celebration of her life will be Thursday, February 27 at 11 a.m. at Geyer Springs United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the Food Pantry at Geyer Springs United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Little Rock Funeral Home, (501) 224-2200. Lillian’s online guestbook may be signed at www.littlerockfuneralhome.com.
