PINE BLUFF — Glynda Gayle Jenkinson Payton,

79, a resident of Pine Bluff, passed away Friday, February 21, 2020, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center.

Born on December 25, 1940, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, she was the daughter of Wayne Alton and Mary Evelyn “Eva” Jenkinson. Mrs. Payton was raised in Pine Bluff and graduated from Watson Chapel High School in 1959. Regional She Medical worked Center at Jefferson as a Secretary and was a member of Sulphur Springs Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for many years.

Glynda married Don “Donnie” Payton on November 20, 1959, and he predecease­d her on February 15, 1984. Glynda was also preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her three children, Kimberlee Payton Burgess (Steve), Kevin Payton and Kellee Payton (Tonya); six grandchild­ren, Beth Crawford (Blake), Payton Smith (Josh), Adam Burgess (Sarah), Kyle Payton, Kortney Mims (Taylor), Kaleb Payton and Krista Payton; and two great-grandchild­ren, Christophe­r Burgess and Claire Crawford, with two more on the way.

Glynda, known as “Mimi” to those who loved her, was a proud grandmothe­r who enjoyed playing Yatzee, gardening and singing. In her younger years, she enjoyed making ceramics and crocheting, and she created many beautiful family heirlooms.
