School districts survey students’ technology needs.
The Little Rock, North Little Rock and Jacksonville/North Pulaski school districts are among districts asking families to complete an online survey on their student’s accessibility to technology, including electronic devices such as computers and tablets, as well as internet service.
The Little Rock district is asking that its technology survey — available in both English and Spanish — be completed by March 31.

The North Little Rock district is also asking that the survey be done by March 31.
“This survey will allow us to gauge the needs of our students so that we can meet them to ensure that the learning process continues, even if they are not in a classroom, Dustin Barnes, a district spokesman, wrote to parents. “After we collect the responses, we will be communicating with you on the process of picking up the device.

The Jacksonville/North Pulaski School District is asking that the survey be shared with anyone with children in the district and be completed “in a timely manner” so that the results can be analyzed.

Bryan Duffie, superintendent of the Jacksonville/ North Pulaski School District, has included in his recent daily email message to district families a list of communication companies that are providing low-cost or no-cost internet access.
Depending on the company’s service area, families outside the Jacksonville district and throughout the state may also be eligible for the free and/or low-cost services at this time when schools are closed and lessons are and will be done online.

The Pulaski County Special School District has posted information on its website about technology resources for students while school buildings are closed to onsite instruction by state order.
In addition to Comcast, the district posted the phone number of Charter Communications/Spectrum: (844) 488-8395.
The Pulaski County Special district further notes that all Xfinity and Spectrum/ Charter WiFi hotspots are free and unlimited for the next 60 days.
Any business that uses Xfinity or Spectrum is now an open free hotspot for public use.
That can be done by connecting to the network name “xfinitywifi” or “Spectrum WiFi” or “CableWiFi.”
Once connected, the user should be able to open a web browser and accept the agreement to use the WiFi responsibly, according to the Pulaski County Special district website.
