BRYANT — Robert Wilson Giles,

66, of Bryant, Arkansas, passed away early Friday, March 27, 2020.

Robert was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas on June 9, 1953 to the late Kenneth R. Giles and Creola Belle Eudy Giles.

Robert was a United States Navy veteran who retired after 20 years of active duty. During his time in the Navy he proudly served on the USS Carl Vinson, the USS Midway and the USS Deyo, rising in rank to Senior Chief Petty Officer. After his honorable discharge, Robert worked for the State of Arkansas and Olympus Corp of the Americas. He enjoyed hunting, Harley Davidson motorcycle­s, collecting and repairing antique pocket watches, pottery and vintage memorabili­a. His possessed an abundant knowledge of all things military and participat­ed in Civil War reenactmen­ts.

Preceding him in death are his parents and sister, Janice Belle Carey. Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Stephanie Williamson (Brett) of El Dorado, Ark.; his sister, Rhonda Corbin (George) of Alexander, Ark.; his brother, Thomas “Goose” Tatum of Bryant, Ark.; three grandchild­ren, Matlynne Jones Franklin (Dustin) of El Dorado, Ark.; Morgan Williamson of Little Rock, Ark.; Grant Williamson of El Dorado, Ark.; great-granddaugh­ter, Emery Lynn Franklin of El Dorado, Ark.; many cousins, nieces and nephews and friends, including Daniel and Inauquan Jorgensen, who cared for him and became part of his family.

In keeping with the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommenda­tion regarding public gatherings, there will be no public visitation or service at this time. Plans for a celebratio­n of his life will be announced later.
