Bishop EDDIE JOE STEWART,

72, of Little Rock, Ark., departed this life March 21, 2020. He is preceded in death by his wife, Queen Stewart, father Mr. James Curtis Stewart, and parents Rosie Lee Floyd and Mr. Henry O’Neal Floyd.

Graduated from Horace Mann High School in 1965, He was honorably discharged as a Vietnam Veteran. Retired from the Little Rock School District, Bishop Stewart began his ministry at the Morning Star Baptist Church, where Robert Jenkins served as the Senior Pastor. After being called to assist Rev. Carlee Porter at the Freedom Baptist Church, Porter licensed and installed him as his assistant. Later under the direction of the Holy Spirit, he joined Ebenezer Church of God in Christ under the leadership of the Bishop L.T. Walker who ordained him and consecrate­d him as an Elder in the Church of God in Christ. He was later appointed as Church Evangelist of the Ebenezer Church of God in Christ.

After following the calling of God, Elder Stewart became the founder and Pastor of the True Light Church of God in Christ Ministry. He attended C.H. Mason Bible College, and upon graduation was consecrate­d as a Bishop under the Archbishop William P. Brown of the Fellowship of the Independen­t and Global Churches, Inc. He was then appointed presiding bishop over the South Region which consists of Mississipp­i, Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri, Louisiana and Alabama. Bishop Stewart remained a bishop until his death.

Bishop Stewart, enjoyed singing, and was one of the founding members of the famous group in Little Rock: Little Mike and the Gospel Stars Quartet, who performed nationally with known artist, such as Dottie Peoples, the Pilgrim Jubilee Singers, The Gospel Keynotes, The Five Blind Boys of Alabama, and the Mighty Clouds of Joy

He leaves to cherish his memory: children: biological son, Paul Stewart; adopted son, Demarion Stewart; stepchildr­en: Diann Cromartie (Myron), Lori Nelson (Jimmy), Lisa Kitchen, Linda Kitchen (deceased), Dionne Dantzler; siblings: Betty Wilson, Larry Burt (Brenda), Sandra Floyd, Kim Floyd, Henry Floyd (Diane), Angela Galan, Ray Floyd (Joyce), Teneice Floyd. Bishop was loved by a host of relatives.
