JIMMY FINLEY,

-

74, of Maumelle passed away April 11, 2020. Jimmy was born in Little Rock, Ark., on September 6, 1945 to Joe and Lorraine Finley. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bobby, and sister-inlaw Mary Finley.

He is survived by Betty, his wife of 31 years; stepdaughter, Amy Stephenson, who called him “Daddy Jimmy” (John and two grandchildren, Scott and Hannah of Houston, Texas); nephews Rob Finley (Theresa), and Mike Finley; niece, Elizabeth Mellor (John) all of Frisco, Texas; many cousins; and, two beloved cats.

Jimmy graduated from North Little Rock High School and remained a loyal friend through the years to his classmates. He graduated from UALR with a Degree in Psychology. He started his career with Olympia Publishing Company where he served 20 years as Vice President. Later he joined his wife Betty who managed Pine Crest Memorial Park, a family owned cemetery.

Jimmy was a member of Maumelle Country Club for 31 years. He had his one and only Hole-InOne with his mother at a Maumelle Mixed Invitational Event. All of his golf buddies referred to him as “Little Finn”.

On Palm Sunday, as Holy Week began with everyone home bound from covid-19, Betty shared Bible verses with Jimmy and asked if he wanted to accept the LORD. Due to his Dementia and not being able to speak, he smiled sweetly and nodded his head “Yes.” Then we shared Holy Communion together.

Donations may be made to First United Methodist Church Maumelle: PO Box 13981 Maumelle, Ark., 72113; or, Maumelle Friends of the Animals: PO Box 13061, Maumelle, Ark., 72113. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
