ONGOING Community Drive-Thru Dinners
HEBER SPRINGS — The following churches and organizations are serving drive-thru dinners for area residents: First Baptist Church, 201 N. Fourth St, from 5-7 p.m. Tuesdays; Heber Springs First Assembly of God, 1009 W. Searcy St., from 5-7 p.m. Thursdays; Breakin’ Bread Ministries, 714 Scott St., from 5-7 p.m. Fridays; and First United Methodist Church, 1099 W. Pine St., from 5-7 p.m. Saturdays. Other churches, organizations, businesses and volunteers have helped make the dinners possible by donating time and resources.
Community Award Nominations

Ring Them Bells and Honk Them Horns
JACKSONVILLE — The Jacksonville Museum of Military History, in partnership with First United Methodist Church of Jacksonville, will ring their bells at 6 p.m. for 30 seconds each weekday, Monday through Friday. The ringing of the bells is to show appreciation to the doctors, nurses, first responders, pharmacists and grocery-store staff who keep working under potentially dangerous conditions. All churches and civilians are welcome to join in by ringing bells or honking their car horns at the appointed time.
Ozarka Scholarship Deadline Extension
MELBOURNE — The deadline to apply for Ozarka College scholarships for the fall 2020 semester has been extended to June 1. Ozarka offers several institutional scholarships and more than 50 foundation scholarships. To be considered for the foundation scholarships, students must enroll full time and have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 2.0. Applications are available to students when logging into their myOzarka account. A written essay will also be required. For assistance with setting up an account on myOzarka or help applying for scholarships, call the Ozarka College Financial Aid office at (870) 368-2009 or email finaid@ozarka.edu.
Independence County Library Curbside Hours
BATESVILLE — The Independence County Library, 267 E. Main St., has extended its curbside service hours to 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. To check out materials, call the library at (870) 793-8814, ext. 1. Library staff will hold materials for patrons to pick up at the back entrance of the building. The front entrance to the library is locked until the library resumes full service. The library will continue to offer free Wi-Fi to patrons, accessible from Main Street, near the front entrance to the library, and also near the back entrance on Water Street.

BATESVILLE — The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville’s Community Education program offers a variety of online formats for learning remotely, including professional-development and advanced career-training opportunities. American Legion Post 71 Closure
CABOT — Criswell-Robinson American Legion Post 71 of Cabot has closed temporarily and has canceled all functions until further
notice. Post 71 is taking these precautions in light of the coronavirus situation.
Cabot Lions Club Knife Raffle 2020
CABOT — The Cabot Lions Club will raffle off a hand-crafted, custom knife and sheath by Lion Kimm Hunt that is valued at approximately $250. Proceeds from the event will be used to purchase exams and eyeglasses for schoolchildren and in-need adults; to assist applicants with hearing aids and glaucoma and cataract surgeries; to provide vision screenings; and to support the Cabot Lions Scholarship Fund. Purchase tickets from any Cabot Lions Club member for a donation of $5 each or $20 for five. The drawing will take place Oct. 10 at the Cabot Lions booth at CabotFest.
UPCOMING Ozarka Graduation Ceremonies Postponement
MELBOURNE — Ozarka College will postpone nursing capping and pinning and commencement ceremonies, typically scheduled for early May, until June 9 and 11, respectively. Details for rescheduled events will be released as the dates near and more information regarding the national health crisis is available. Beebe Farmers’ Market
BEEBE — The Beebe Farmers’ Market will be open from 4-7 p.m. May 14 at First United Methodist Church, 302 N. Main St. Due to COVID-19, a one-way drive-thru will be set up. Customers will enter through the back of the parking lot off North Cherry Street and exit onto North Main Street. They will not be permitted to exit their cars or cut in line for any reason.
