ROSE MARIE LUNEAU STUART,

-

86, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed into Eternal Life and the loving arms of Jesus on May 3, 2020 after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born in Warren, Ark. on November 6, 1933 to Guy Luneau and Mary Edna (Rabalais) Luneau, she was preceded in death by her brothers Guy Luneau, Marion “Mickey” Luneau, and Harold Dean Luneau. She attended the Saint Vincent School of Nursing in Little Rock, AR., graduating as an R.N. in 1954 and married Thomas H. Stuart in 1956.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years and five children, Loretta Stuart Quick, Thomas Stuart, David Stuart (Rhonda), Mary Stuart Lewis (Mark), and Christopher Stuart (Gail Anne), as well as 11 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Rose worked tirelessly as a nurse at the VA Hospital in Little Rock, Ark., as well as St. Vincent’s Doctor’s Hospital, while raising her family. She was a dedicated member of Christ the King Catholic parish, as well as Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, where she served as Eucharistic Minister to the sick and homebound, and as a member of the Altar Society. An enthusiastic piano player of classic and Broadway show tunes, she instilled in her children and grandchildren a great love of music, several of whom became professional Broadway performers. Rose possessed a profoundly deep faith in the Lord, and her life was forever changed for the better by her personal relationship with Jesus. Her favorite scripture verse was Psalm 119: 105: “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.” She was a gifted cook, prolific reader, and avid movie fan, all of which she passed on to her children. She always considered her greatest gifts to be her children and grandchildren, and her untiring efforts to raise them with love and warmth were a testament to her lovely nature, set a great example, and will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Little Rock, Ark. from 6 p.m.-7 p.m. on Friday, May 8th, 2020, with a Rosary service to follow. A celebration of her life and Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 9th, 2020. All updated Covid-19 restrictions, as issued by the Diocese of Little Rock, will be in place, including 6’ distancing, masks for all attendees over the age of 10, and use of hand sanitizer prior to entering the church facility.
