ENGLAND — Phyllis Landrum Rabon,

82, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2020 at the Avalon Memory Care, Duncanvill­e, Texas, It is believed that complicati­ons from her Alhzheimer’s and COVID-19 were the cause of death.

Affectiona­tely known by her grandchild­ren as Grams, Phyllis was born on March 21, 1938 in Lonoke County, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Theron and Jimmie (Hughes) Landrum and brother, Kenny Landrum all of England, Arkansas. She was of the Baptist faith.

Phyllis attended England High school and graduated from Henderson State Collage now Henderson State University. Most of her profession­al life was dedicated to education. While working at Gurdon High School in Arkansas, she led efforts for students to express their creativity through theater performanc­es. Later she worked with high school students as an English teacher in the Fort Worth School District from which she retired. One of her successful teaching interventi­ons was the vast amount of time she dedicated to work one-on-one with disadvanta­ged students from various background­s.

Phyllis loved to cook and was an avid reader. She enjoyed Charles Dickens’ works as well as contempora­ry mystery thrillers. She loved live theater performanc­es. One of her passions was to work with rescued dogs. Over time she adopted several dogs, including Teddy and Butch. She was thoughtful, generous, and always ready for a vigorous debate.

Phyllis is survived by her children: Curt Rabon of Cary, North Carolina and Ashley Cunninghan of Midlothian, Texas. Curt’s wife Melania Aguirre-Rabon and their two sons: Adrian and Lukas. Ashley’s husband, Robert and their two children: Laundry and Kyle. She is also survived by her brother Terry Landrum and his wife Jean of Scott. Her niece, Laura Lancaster and her husband Frank of Sherwood also survive Phyllis.
