BRYANT — Dale “Michael” McClellan, Jr.,

beloved Arkansas high school football coach, passed away on June 3, 2020 at the age of 37. He was affectiona­tely called Coach Mac by his players.

McClellan graduated from Bryant in 2000 before playing college football at Henderson State University in Arkadelphi­a. During his coaching career, he worked as wide receivers coach at Sheridan 2008-2009, defensive line coach at Benton 2010-2017, and was hired at Jacksonvil­le in 2018 for the same position. Benton was where McClellan excelled as an assistant coach. Coaches said he hyped up the players before and during games and practices. He was looking forward to continuing his work with Jacksonvil­le and his defensive line which is considered one of the team’s strengths. He took his job seriously and tried to be the best Coach, Mentor, and Motivator for his student athletes. Michael was committed to high school athletics.

He was preceded in death by his grandparen­ts and one aunt.

Michael is survived by his two sons; Julius and Jett McClellan; parents; Dale McClellan Sr. and Dana McClellan; one brother Josh McClellan; a niece, Bryley McClellan; and a host of family and friends who all loved him and will miss him dearly. Michael loved spending time with his sons fishing, swimming, playing football and baseball and was so very proud of his boys.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2020 from 11-2 at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home in Bryant. Celebratio­n of Michael’s life will be held at 2 at the funeral home.
