Technical Center to open in August, renovations in progress

-

ASH FLAT — Ozarka College is making progress toward its fall opening of the FNBC Technical Center in Ash Flat. The college is entering the installation phase for the center’s Automotive Service and Diesel Technology Division. Recently, the college installed multiple two-post lift systems for the automotive laboratory.

“It is exciting to see the project coming together,” said Richard Dawe, Ozarka president. “We look forward to the first cohort of students entering this fall. This technical center will provide an outlet to train our future technicians in the region and provide them the skills necessary to advance in high-demand, life-changing careers.”

The Automotive Service and Diesel Technology programs will offer courses beginning in August.

Ozarka’s new technical programs will not only be offered to students traditionally enrolled at the college, but also to area high school students. In 2019, Ozarka College was officially designated as a regional Secondary Technical Center by the Career Education and Workforce Development Board.

Secondary technical centers are designed to provide career and technical education programs too costly for the local high schools to offer.
