DR CHESTER (CHET) ROYSE BLACKMON,

of Little Rock entered the gates of Heaven to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 6, 2020. Chet was born on February 25, 1945 in Little Rock, Ark., to the late Jewell (Nottage) and Bynum Blackmon.

Chet was president of his graduating class in El Dorado, Ark. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Hendrix College, where he was on the swim team. Later, he received his Master’s Degree from Louisiana Tech, and his D.C. degree from Palmer College at Davenport, Iowa. In 1968, Lt. Blackmon joined the Army and served as a Gunnery Instructor at Ft. Sill, Okla. Then, Captain Blackmon went to Vietnam where he served as a Fire Direction Control Officer.

After serving in Vietnam, Chet went to Palmer College where he was head of the Physiology and Chemistry Dept. In 1976, Chet and his family moved to Little Rock and opened Blackmon Chiropract­ic Clinic, where he practiced for 37 years, before retiring in 2013.

Chet loved hunting and was president of the Big Island Hunting Club for years. He also loved fishing, scuba diving, boating, and traveling. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary, was appointed to the AR State Board of Health, and was a 32nd Degree Mason. Chet was a member of Fellowship Bible Church.

The only things that Chet loved more than his work and outdoor interests were his faith, family and friends. Chet was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 54 years, Patricia (Tullis) Blackmon; his son, Dr. Chris Blackmon (Heather); his two grand-daughters, Bailey and Marley Blackmon; his sister, Becky Tull; his sisters-in law, Doris Lawrence (Bill), and Linda Perrin (Wayne); and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hot Spring Nursing and Rehabilita­tion Center for taking such great care of him.

A visitation will be held on Monday, August 10, 2020 from 5:30-7:30 p.m., at Roller Chenal Funeral Home, 13801 Chenal Parkway. The family request friends having last names starting with A-M come from 5:306:30 and last names staring with N-Z come from 6:30-7:30. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 11, at 1p.m. at Roller Chenal Funeral Home with burial to follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Catholic High Foundation, 6300 Father Tribou Street, Little Rock, 72205.
