TILLAR — William “Bill” Franklin Teeter,

84 of Tillar, Ark., passed away August 6, 2020 in Dumas, Ark. Born in Pottsville, Ark., on July 14, 1936 the son of the late, Paul William Teeter and Thelma Agnes Rankin Teeter. His parents and a brother, Rankin Teeter preceded him in death.

Mr. Teeter served as the Conservati­on District Director Emeritus, Federal Land Bank Associatio­n Director, Director of the National Associatio­n of Conservati­on Districts, and the Chairman of National Associatio­n of Conservati­on Districts Soil Stewardshi­p Committee. He was a member of the Arkansas Associatio­n of Conversati­on for 50 years and served as president, secretary, and treasurer. His other leadership roles included Vice Chairman of the University of Arkansas Agricultur­al Developmen­t Council, President of Southeast Area of Arkansas Conservati­ons District, Founder of Dumas State Bank, and Simmons Bank Board Member. He was a member of the Dumas Chamber of Commerce, Soil Conservati­on Society of America, and Chicot-Desha Metropolit­an Port Authority.as well as former president of the Desha County Farm Bureau. In addition, Mr. Teeter was director of Delta Crop Management, Inc., MS&T Flying Service, Inc., Loyd Implement and Supply Company of Dumas and Dumas Farmers Cooperativ­e. He was awarded Farm Family of the Year 1984, Conservati­on Tillage Cotton Farmer of the Year, Conservati­on Hall of Fame Inductee, and Arkansas Agricultur­e Hall of Fame Inductee. Outside of his profession­al life, Bill was an active member of the First United Methodist Church serving as a member of the choir and building committee in addition to Sunday School Superinten­dent. Mr. Teeter was also chosen Ding Dong Daddy of Dumas in 2005.

Survivors are his wife, Shirley Teeter of Tillar, Ark., and two daughters, Lorrie (Ken) Holt of Dumas, Ark., and Lisa (David) Holland of Camden, Ark., two sisters, Theva Jimenez of LaJunta Colorado and Patsy Blount of Independen­ce, Mo., five grandchild­ren, Megan Leanne (John) Shull, Lauren Ashley (Chris) Grillis, Sarah (Murray) Benton, Julie Beth (Bennett) Gardner and Kathryn (Dalton) Smith, four great-granddaugh­ters, Ava Marie Shull, Dylan Grillis, Charlotte Ann Shull, Holland Rose Benton.

Visitation held on Sunday, August 9, 2020 at First United Methodist Church, Dumas prior to funeral services with Covid 19 safety precaution­s in place for safety of family and friends. Visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m., and funeral services at 2 p.m., with Dr. Tandy Hanson officiatin­g and burial following in Jefferson Cemetery.
