MELINDA RUTH “MENDY” LINDSEY EMMERLING,

-

of Maumelle, went to her eternal resting place on August 3, 2020 at

3:25 a.m., Mendy was 56 years of age. Mendy was born on

August 21, 1963; she was raised in Springdale and attended the University of Arkansas. She graduated in 1986 with a degree in Home Economics. She and Mark married September 3, 1988 and have lived in Maumelle for 32 years. They were long-time members of Immaculate Heart of Mary and she was a huge Razorback football fan.

Mendy’s vocation was that of a wife and mother. Her husband, Mark, and her son, Chris, were known as “her boys.” Mendy’s role as a faithful, loving wife to Mark and a doting mother to Chris will be her legacy. She was the true love of Mark’s life and Chris was the apple of her eye. They all shared a great love for Mendy’s favorite dog Rocky.

Mendy worked as an office manager for two architect firms — The Wilcox Group and Jameson Architects. Her fondness for architecture came by way of her sister, Carolyn Lindsey Polk, Co-owner, Yeary Lindsey Architects.

Mendy’s hobbies outside of work and family included playing Bunco with her best friends, and shopping. She had an affinity for purses and shoes and felt she could never have too many of either.

The last three years of Mendy’s life were spent tirelessly traveling back and forth to Houston to participate in clinical trials at MD Anderson. She knew her participation might not save her own life, but that of another, and for that she made the sacrifice. She said the silver lining of going to Houston was that of spending time with her brother, Gordon, and his family and having access to lots of great outlet shopping.

Mendy was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Lindsey, and her mother, Peggy Lindsey. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Mark Emmerling; her son, Chris Emmerling; her sister, Carolyn Polk; her brother, Gordon Lindsey; and her aunt, Pat Gordon.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Immaculate Heart of Mary Columbarium Fund. A private Memorial Mass will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Online guestbook www.SmithFamilyCares.com
