Leadership Searcy Application Deadline
SEARCY — The deadline to apply for the 2020/21 Leadership Searcy class is Thursday. The program recruits highly motivated individuals to attend a series of eight full-day sessions from September through May, typically on the second Tuesday of the month. The class will focus on issues, people and opportunities for leadership. Class begins Sept. 10 and 11.To sponsor a class session, contact the chamber office at scc@searcychamber.com. Museum of Imagination Private Appointments
BROCKWELL — The Museum of Imagination, 25 Chapel Hill Road, a privately owned museum of natural science, provides learning experiences for children and adults. Museum Director Barbra Knight offers prescheduled private appointments to the museum, with only one family permitted each day. Exhibits include minerals, fossils, snakeskins, skulls, insects, woods and carvings, spiders and more. There is also a fluorescent mineral display and an extensive lending library. Several exhibits are interactive, and two model railroads are set up, ready to run. Admission is free. For an appointment, call Knight at (870) 895-2087.
Batesville Community Theatre Digital Monologue Showcase
BATESVILLE — The Batesville Community Theatre will launch its first Digital Monologue Showcase for students in kindergarten through the 12th grade, including 2020 graduates. The students may record themselves performing an approximately 30- to 60-second monologue from a published work — a play, book, movie, etc. — and BCT will select some favorites to showcase across its social-media platforms periodically. Submissions must be emailed to bctarkansas@yahoo.com before midnight Aug. 31.
Corona Corona! Exhibit
FAIRFIELD BAY — Joyce Hartmann, a Choctaw artist, has a new exhibit, Corona Corona!, at the Fairfield Bay Library, 369 Dave Creek Parkway. The exhibit consists of 19 paintings, most in watercolor, but some are mixed media or acrylics. More than half of the works are being exhibited for the first time. The public can view the exhibit through October from 1-4 p.m. daily whenever the library is open. For more information, call (501) 884-4930, as hours may change because of COVID-19.
