BRYANT — William A. “Bill” West

passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2020, at his home in Bryant, Ark. Bill was born on September 18, 1931, in Dumas, Ark. He attended public schools in Dumas, and obtained his BS degree in business administra­tion at Arkansas Tech in 1953. He served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. Upon returning to Dumas, he built the Delta Dip drive-in, and joined his father in the oil business. West Oil Company was associated with Lion Oil Company for many years, until Bill began working with Esso (Exxon) in the early 1970s. Bill sold West Oil Company in the early 1990s, and worked for several years as loan officer at Dumas State Bank (Simmons) until his retirement at age 65. Bill was active in Dumas civic affairs, serving as President of the Dumas Chamber of Commerce, and Vice-President of the Lion’s Club. He was on the Board of Directors at Dumas State Bank (Simmons).

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, A.G. and Mary West, and his brother, Ronnie West. Bill is survived by his wife, Jean Alpe West; two children, daughter, Wynne West Prager (Ben) of Austin, Texas, and son, Keith West (Debbie) of Little Rock; and three granddaugh­ters, Ellie Prager, Meredith West, and Margo West. Bill was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church in Little Rock.

The mass of Christian burial will be at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4000 N Rodney Parham Rd, Little Rock, Ark., on Wednesday, September 2, at 10:30 a.m., with Father Erik Pohlmeier officiatin­g. Entombment will follow Mass in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Alexander, Ark. Memorials may be made in Bill’s name to CARTI in Little Rock, or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangemen­ts entrusted to Pinecrest Funeral Home, Alexander, Ark.
