EL DORADO — Alice Jean Sales Young,

86, of El Dorado, passed away from this life Sunday, August 30, 2020, at Hudson Memorial Nursing Home. Born May 24, 1934 in Louann, Ark., she was the daughter of Ruel Waller Sales, Sr. and Opal Mae Rushton Sales. She was a member of First Christian Church, and a graduate of Warner Brown School of Nursing. She was employed at Baylor Medical Hospital in Dallas, Texas, before returning to El Dorado, where she and the love of her life, Gerald E. “Jerry” Young, co-owned and managed Young’s Funeral Directors of Distinctio­n from 1960 to 1994. Alice once said her legacy was God, family and serving others in their darkest hour. A modern woman ahead of her time. She was strong and driven with a soft heart. An inspiratio­n to many, loved by all.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry, of over 60 years; her parents; her brothers, DV Sales, Ruel Sales, and Melvin Sales; her sister, Patricia Ann Coke, and a grandson, Sterling Wright.

She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Lisa Ann Guice, and her husband Lester of El Dorado; her sons, Mark Allan Young of El Dorado, and Todd Young and wife Angela of Hot Springs, Ark.; grandchild­ren, Michael “Ozzie” Young of Pocahontas, Stephen Wright of Sherwood, Gerald Michael Young and wife Courtney of Hot Springs, Heather James of Hot Springs, Hope Delahunt and husband Charles of Arkadelphi­a, step-grandson, Jonathan Cater of Winter Park, Fla.; and four great-grandsons.

Visitation will be held 1:00-3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Young’s Funeral Directors. In keeping with CDC regulation­s masks and social distancing is required. Private graveside services will be held at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young’s Funeral Directors. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
