Akin, county treasurer, permits Mr. Akin to deposit all North Little Rock school funds held in the county treasury in the court registry until it can be legally ascertained who is treasurer of the North Little Rock School Board.

Earlier this week, Heathcott had attempted to file at the county election commission office, but was turned down because of another opinion from the attorney general’s office dated May 22 which said that in municipalities where a primary is held, independent candidates must file by the June 16 deadline

Private contractor Laidlaw Transit Inc. is an extension of her department. Many parents have complained that buses were late, broke down or never came for their children. Cheatham and Laidlaw officials said the complaints have dropped dramatically in the past week.

■ A trapper hired by North Little Rock Animal Control is still looking for menacing coyotes, but did trap one earlier in the week, the shelter’s director said Friday. Animal Control hired the trapper after three attacks on small dogs in the 4900 block of Division Street since late August. One dog was snatched and is presumed dead, while another was severely injured. Animal Control issued notices in that area to alert residents to watch over small pets and even young children. It’s unknown whether the same coyote attacked each dog.
