CHARLES ALTON GRISHAM, 94,

of Maumelle passed away Friday, November 13, 2020. He was born in Long Beach, Calif. to the late Artie Lee and Calvin “Dutch” Vesta Grisham.

Charles is preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Lowell, Dewell, and Bob Grisham.

Survivors include his loving wife of 73 years, Emma Sue Kirby Grisham; three daughters, Rita Casey (Leonard), Linda Stone (George), and Charlotte Daniels (Stan Spangler); seven grandchild­ren; 13 great-grandchild­ren; one sister Barbara Hale (Milas); and two sisters-in-law, Beverly and Lotis Grisham.

Charles was a long-time faithful member of Park View Baptist Church. He joined the Navy at 17 years of age and served on the most decorated battleship of WWII, the USS South Dakota. He earned many medals during his military service. Charles worked as a teacher for 37 years primarily in Industrial Arts for the Little Rock School District. He also worked part-time for 15 years at the Little Rock Boy’s Club where he was influentia­l in the lives of many young people. One of Charles’s favorite students was Congressma­n French Hill, who presented him with his military medals in a special awards ceremony in August 2016. Charles had many talents in woodworkin­g and building things. He was a wonderful Christian man who will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Services will be on Monday, November 14, at 1 p.m. at Park View Baptist Church in North Little Rock with visitation 30 minutes prior. Face masks and social distancing required. Graveside services with military honors will be at Oakland Cemetery in Holland, Ark. Arrangemen­ts made by Roller-Owens Funeral Home.
