ARKADELPHI­A — Helen Dicus Vowan,

age 93, of Arkadelphi­a, formerly of Cabot, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 10, 2020, in Arkadelphi­a. She was born March 20, 1927, in Lonoke County Arkansas to Elmer E. and Lois Tucker Dicus. After graduating from Ouachita Baptist University, she earned her master’s degree from Arkansas State University in Education. She was a reading specialist and a retired public-school teacher. Helen was a member of Arkadelphi­a First Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening and fishing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of seventy-one years, Lawrence Vowan and one sister, Dorothy “Dottie” Cartmel. Survivors are one daughter, Brenda McGlone and husband, Lee of Arkadelphi­a; three grandchild­ren, Chris McGlone and wife, Alicia, Ashley Freeman and husband, Jason, Nick McGlone and his wife, Katie; seven great-grandchild­ren, Andrew McGlone, Mya Maxwell, Maggie McGlone, Jack McGlone, Allie Freeman, Grayson McGlone and Keeton McGlone; her sister, Teresa Carter; a brother-in-law, Dalton Cartmel; nieces, Donna Mann, Sara Marshall, Kelly Journey and Cindy Jones; nephews, David Carter and Jimmy Carter.

Visitation will be 10 a.m., Friday, November 13, at Sumner Cemetery Pavilion near Cabot. Service will follow at 10:30 a.m., with Rev. Lee McGlone officiatin­g. Burial will follow by Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home of Arkadelphi­a. Memorials may be made to Arkansas Baptist Children’s Home c/o Zion Hill Baptist Church, 11923 Zion Hill Rd., Cabot, Ark., 72023.
