McCrory expected to be a high-scoring team

Conference: 2A-6

Coach: Kevan Moore

Assistant coach: Tyler Thomas

2019-20 record: 18-11

Returning starters: Senior Mallory Baker; juniors Maddi Hankins and Jazlyn Love; and sophomore Natalie Creasey

Head coach Kevan Moore said McCrory has a good mix of girls who will allow the Lady Jaguars to push the pace and score in bunches.

“We should be exciting to watch,” said Moore, who is in his third year as head coach. “We will be a very high-scoring team.”

Returning this year is Mallory Baker, who averaged just over 10 points per game last season, and sophomore Natalie Creasey, who averaged 18.2 points per game.

“She is very polished for a sophomore,” Moore said. “She scores in bunches — she put up 40 points in three different games [last season].

“She has a superhigh motor.” He said Creasey has a nice step-back game and can finish with either hand at the basket.

Juniors Maddi Hankins and Jazlyn Love averaged 7 points per game last season.

Senior Kyndal Dollar is returning this year after tearing her ACL. The coach said she is a dominant player who averaged 14.2 points per game as a sophomore. Moore said she is a good shooter, handles the ball well and can score from inside and out.

“She is very good facing the basket and can step out and hit the 3-pointer,” Moore said.

Moore said McCrory is a very good outside shooting team that needs to hit the shots that are given.

“We will have to push our pace,” Moore said. “We are a very good conditioned team that moves the ball well for shots.

“Rebounding is our biggest weakness. We will send more to the boards in hopes of getting more rebounds.”

Moore said McCrory also needs to improve its defense from last year.

He said the conference games against Des Arc could be lots of fun to watch, as well as the one against Little Rock Episcopal Collegiate.

“Harding Academy will be very tough,” he said. “It is hard to pick who will be tougher, Episcopal or Harding. They are both very long and extremely well-coached.”
