CABOT — Ronnie Dale Hair,

71, of Cabot, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2020. He was born February 20, 1949, in Roscoe, Texas, to the late Francis Russell and Edna Hair. Ronnie married Shirley Jean Bush in Sweetwater, Texas, on August 19, 1970.

He passed up a baseball scholarship with Texas Tech to serve his country in the United States Army. Ronnie served abroad and stateside for four years in the 4th Infantry Division during the Vietnam era and specifically with Pershing missile coordinates and targeting. He had several jobs over his lifetime, but most of it was spent with the railroad. He was first with the Santa Fe Railroad in Sweetwater, Texas and eventually went on to Union Pacific Railroad, from which he retired in May 2016.

Ronnie was a wonderful husband and father and also a best friend to his family. He was a man’s man, yet one of the most kind and gentle people to ever walk the earth. Ronnie always put others before himself and loved unconditionally with all his heart. He was always your biggest fan and an encourager and motivator. Ronnie was a best friend and always wanted to hear about the details of your day or week. He was a Christian, and we hope we will we see him again. In addition to his parents, Ronnie was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jean Hair in 2010, and brother, Danny Wayne Hair.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Damon Hair; daughter-inlaw, Jessica Hair; and granddaughter, Arden Hair, all of Cabot; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, all of West Texas.
