Groups giving gifts to families in need

-

Local organizations will provide gifts for several families on 23rd Avenue, foster care families and area youths during the Miracle on 23rd Street event. It will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. today at 2310 S. Linden St., according to a news release.

The goal is to provide 300 gifts to working families who cannot provide presents this holiday season. Local vendors and event sponsors will provide entertainment, food, beverages, warm clothing, toys and gift cards for children.

“In the past three years, IMPACT Kids Academy has hosted 13 charitable events from feeding families for Thanksgiving, to offering assistance for the holidays, to providing funding for other local organizations to carry out their missions in Pine Bluff,” said founder Carolyn Pridgeon.

More than a year ago, Pridgeon purchased the former Gabe Meyer and Sam Taylor elementary school properties with the intent to provide a community park for the neighborhood and programming for special needs and behaviorally challenged youth, according to the release.

All God’s Children Outreach Inc. is partnering for the Miracle on 23rd Street event. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, All God’s Children’s mission is to develop a community and provide foster families programs.

Other sponsors of Miracle on 23rd Street include I AM Girls Empowerment Inc., Youth Basketball League, Delta Omega Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., First Sister’s Outreach and CP Foundation and Consulting Group.
