WILMINGTON, N.C. — Riley Stout Estes

passed away suddenly on February 7, 2021, at the age of 19. He was born on March 2, 2001, in Wilmington, N.C., to parents Brian and Gretchen Estes. Riley was a 2019 New Hanover High School graduate and member of First Presbyteri­an Church. He attended the University of Arkansas where he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He was currently enrolled as a sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He was an avid outdoorsma­n, athlete, and fearless adventurer who loved fishing, hunting, football, baseball, scuba diving, skiing, and even skydiving.

Riley is survived by his loving big brother, Burke Estes, residing in Charlottes­ville, Va.; paternal grandmothe­r, Sara Shaw of Scott, Ark.; maternal grandparen­ts, Jim and Donna Garrett of Magnolia, Ark.; aunt and uncle, Jill and Haden Etheridge; and cousins Russell and Brooks Etheridge of Lantana, Texas; and uncle, Gray Garrett, of Plano, Texas.

An outdoor memorial service will be held at Wrightsvil­le Beach Park Pavilion on Thursday, February 11, 2021, at 2 p.m. The service will be conducted by WBUMC Pastor, Doug Lain, followed by a private burial at Oleander Memorial Gardens.
