LONOKE — James Carl Whitaker,

age 92, of Lonoke, passed away March 9, 2021.He was born July 12, 1928, in Des Arc, Ark., to William Bedford and Hettie Ann Whitaker. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Dollie Basham; three brothers, W.B. Whitaker, Cordell Whitaker, and Norman Whitaker; son, Carl Edward Whitaker; son-in-law, Bill Baker; two grandsons, Jimmy Pearrow and Michael Pearrow; and by one granddaugh­ter-in-law, Elizabeth Baker.

Mr. Whitaker was a hard worker and man of his word. Due to the illness of his father, he became the head of the household and helped take care of his mother and younger siblings.

Mr. Whitaker was a member of McArthur Assembly of God in Jacksonvil­le. After retiring from Ben Pearson Archery in Pine Bluff he enjoyed vegetable gardening and taking care of his goats.

He is survived by three daughters, Sharon Baker of Little Rock, Donna Harrison (Jim) of Lonoke, and Carla Fugate (Allen) of Sherwood; one son Chris Whitaker (Tammy) of Heber Springs; three sisters, Callie Wade (Buddy), Shirley Harris, and Mary Tower (Rich), all of Sherwood; 13 grandchild­ren, Todd Clifton, Bill Baker (Cricket), Tony Clifton (Erma), Brian Baker, Matthew Clifton, Jodie Rico (Roger), Candi Sibley, Lane Harrison (Sabrina), Lela Folsom, Loryn Fugate, Nick Whitaker, Gabe Whitaker and Allison Whitaker; and by numerous great-grandchild­ren and great-great-grandchild­ren.

Visitation will be Monday, March 15, from 10 to 11 a.m. and services at 11 a.m. at Roller-Owens Funeral Home. Committal service will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Lakeside Cemetery in Des Arc.
