died March 22, 2021, at the age of 93. He was born in Star City, Arkansas, on August 27, 1927, to Joe Vaughn (Pete) and Marguerite Bennett. He served in the Army during the Korean War.

He was a faithful supporter and the last surviving deacon of Calvary Baptist Church in North Little Rock. His simple and heartfelt prayers brought comfort to many through the years. He devoted many hours of labor to Nailbender­s for Jesus and was proud of their mission to build churches and spread God’s word to under-developed areas. He was a 32nd degree Master Mason.

In addition to his parents and sister, Wyoma Wann, he was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years and the mother of his children, Mary Cooper Bennett, and his only grandson, Cory Bennett.

After Mary’s death, he was blessed to meet and marry Thomasene Stauffer. Tommie spoiled him rotten and brought him much joy the last years of his life. In addition to Tommie, he is survived by his children, Danny Bennett (Brenda) of Sherwood, Doug Bennett of Little Rock, and Nelda Hansen (Dennis) of Stuttgart, his stepdaught­er, Karen Titus (Donnie) of Morrilton. He was a proud and loving Papaw to his grandchild­ren, Amberlea Barnes (Todd) of Stuttgart, Heather Davis (Eddie) of Powder Springs, Georgia, Jessica Swanson (Ben) of Fort Collins, Colorado, Whitney Watkins (Wesley) of Hot Springs; his great-grandchild­ren, Emily Bennett (Jessica) of Fort Worth, Texas, Summer Bucklin (Ben) of MHAFB, Idaho, Beau and Bennett Barnes of Stuttgart, Wrenley Watkins of Hot Springs, and Will, Lane, Zach and Daisy Davis of Powder Springs, Georgia; and one great-great-granddaugh­ter, Kori Bennett of Fort Worth, Texas. “A righteous man walks with integrity. Blessed are his children after him.”

Memorials may be directed to Arkansas Children’s Hospital Foundation, 1 Children’s Way, Little Rock, Arkansas, 72202, or the charity of your choice. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 25, 2021, at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home, officiated by Brother Robert McDaniel. Interment will follow at Rest Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, beginning at 1 p.m. Pallbearer­s will be Todd Barnes, Wesley Watkins, Beau Barnes, Rick Hughes, Randy Hughes, and Pat Polk. The family is very appreciati­ve of the staff at Foxridge for their care and devotion to the family this past year.
