ROGERS — In loving memory of Loreta “Muriel” Laxon,

August 17, 1930, to April 6, 2020.

Muriel was the youngest daughter born to her late parents, “Lura” Edna Wade and Noah A. Miller, of Ada, Okla.

She received her education in Ada, Okla., and later attended Bethany Nazarene College in Bethany, Okla., where she met and married her husband, William “Roland” McAdoo. They were married in 1949 and later had four children: twins, Saundra and Cynthia, Stephanie, and Gregory.

Roland was a pipe fitter, so the McAdoo family traveled and lived all over the United States and finally settled in Pine Bluff, Ark., in 1956. Roland helped build the Internatio­nal Paper Mill there and Muriel was employed in the Mill’s Office. Even though the marriage ended in 1968, Muriel would continue her employment at Internatio­nal Paper Mill for 38 years, holding various positions until her retirement in 1994.

Muriel later met and married Gene Laxson in 1983 and remained happily married for over 31 years until his passing in January 2015.

In 1994, the Laxons moved to their retirement home on Beaver Lake in Rogers, Ark., where they led a very active and productive social life, including frequent trips to Branson, Mo., cruising the Caribbean, morning coffee with their retirement couples at McDonald’s, regular trips to the gym for workouts, and attending Arkansas Razorback games.

In the spring and fall every year, the Laxons attended all the arts and craft festivals in the area with their children and friends. For several years in September, they joined daughter, Saundra, and Terry Van, with their biker couples for “Bikes, Blues and Barbeque festivitie­s.

Muriel and Gene were also very committed to activities involving their church family at First Christian Church of Rogers and Gene’s Masonic Lodge #460, and attended many Shriner events.

After Gene’s passing in January 2015, Muriel’s health declined until her passing in 2020.

Muriel was preceded in death by former husband and father of her children, William “Roland” McAdoo; and her late husband of 31 years, Almere “Gene” Laxon; and son “Darrell” Eugene Laxon.

Muriel Laxon is survived by her only sister, ChloKeeta Howard and son, Mike Carroll of McAllen, Texas. Muriel is also survived by a host of family members: her children, Saundra McAdoo and Terry Vanlanding­ham of Pine Bluff, Ark.; Cynthia Brennan and husband Terry, and grandson, “Blake” Brennan Littlejohn, of Tulsa, Okla.; Stephanie Doss and son, Brandon Doss, and grandson, Sam Doss, of St. Louis, Mo.; Greg McAdoo and wife, Julie, of Rogers, Ark.; and grandchild­ren, Josh and Natasha McAdoo, of Texas. She also had three great-grandchild­ren in Texas. Additional family survivors include Gene’s children, Cheryl Brown and sons, Seth and Aaron of The Woodlands, Texas; and Carol Turley and husband, Scott, of Fayettevil­le, Ark.

A private memorial service and interment ceremony will be held at the National Cemetery in Fayettevil­le, Ark., for immediate family only on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at 11:30 a.m., with Pastor Shawn Wallace of First Christian Church of Rogers officiatin­g.
