WEDNESDAY  FRIDAY Time Out for Tech

RUSSELLVIL­LE — Time Out for Tech, Arkansas Tech University’s largest annual preview day for high school seniors, will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday through Friday. Dates for the various colleges are the College of Business and the College of Education on Wednesday; the College of Arts and Humanities and those undecided on their academic interests on Thursday; and the College of Engineerin­g and Applied Sciences and the College of Natural and Health Sciences on Friday. FRIDAY AND MAY 21 Readers Group

FAIRFIELD BAY — The Readers Group meets at 10 a.m. the third Friday of the month at the Fairfield Bay Library. No membership is required, and all are welcome to join the discussion. ONGOING Fairfield Bay Library Updates

FAIRFIELD BAY — The Fairfield Bay Library Board requests that patrons who visit the library continue to wear masks to help ensure the safety of its patrons, staff and volunteers. Social distancing is encouraged, all five computers will be available for public use, and newspapers and magazines will be available for reading. Book donations are not being accepted at this time because of a backlog of previous donations. The library’s current display is art by Jeanne Homuth: An Art Retrospect­ive of her work throughout her life in oils, watercolor and acrylics. Sondra Gordy’s ‘Lost Year’ Papers

CONWAY— The “Lost Year” Papers of Sondra Gordy, who was a professor at the University of Central Arkansas in Conway and is now retired, are available to researcher­s in the CALS Roberts Library Research Room in Little Rock. While pursuing her Ph.D. at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, Gordy completed a thesis in 1996 titled “Teachers of the Lost Year: Little Rock School District: 1958-1959” — the school year when because of court orders, all four public high schools in Little Rock were closed. Gordy continued researchin­g Little Rock students, resulting in the book “Finding the Lost Year: What Happened When Little Rock Closed Its Public Schools,” published by the University of Arkansas Press in 2009. Gordy’s interview notes, photograph­s, recordings and other research materials are included in the “Lost Year” collection.

Veterans Food Pantry

NORTH LITTLE ROCK — The Veterans Villages Helping Hand Program Food Pantry,

8325 MacArthur Drive, serves all veterans, including activeduty, Guard and Reserve service members and their families in Faulkner and Perry counties. The food pantry will be open from 8 a.m. to noon every other Wednesday, including April 21. Food Pantry and Thrift Store

MORRILTON — The Conway County Care Center’s food pantry, at 108 W. Broadway, is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Residents of Conway County may visit the pantry once a month to take home free supplement­al food, regardless of household income. The center also operates a thrift store, where clothes and household items are available at a low cost, or free when there is an immediate need. DARDANELLE — The Dardanelle Area Chamber of Commerce will present its annual banquet April 19 at the Carolyn M. McGee Community Center on Arkansas 22. The evening will include a silent auction, dinner, an awards presentati­on and guest speaker Todd Yakoubian, KATV meteorolog­ist and news personalit­y.
