HOT SPRINGS — Catherine Carter Drennon,

93, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2021. She was born on May 25, 1927 in Quincy, Miss. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Verlon Drennon; her parents, Clarence and Norma Carter; two brothers, and three sisters.

Survivors include sons and DILs, Daniel Leonard Drennon (Angela), Noel Marcus Drennon, David Arnold Drennon (Judy), and Claude Eugene Drennon (Angelia); grandchild­ren; great-grandchild­ren; several nieces and nephews.

She enjoyed entering sweepstake­s and playing the lottery. Her biggest wins were two trucks, one with a ski boat with trailer from the “Arkansas Coke and You” Sweepstake­s, DVD players, and various other prizes. She loved playing her guitar and singing songs she had written. In the early 1940s she played guitar with a group called the “Cotton Choppers.” This group, out of Helena, Ark., played on KFFA 1360 AM radio. She even had the opportunit­y to play the guitar and sing backup with Conway Twitty when he was first starting out in the music business.

She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Funeral services will be at 12 noon Thursday in the Hot Springs Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Michael Cox officiatin­g. Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time. Pallbearer­s will be Dan Drennon, Jr., David Drennon, Noel Drennon and Claude Drennon. Burial will be in Boling Cemetery in Paron, Ark., at 2:30 p.m.. Thursday.
