91, of Hot Springs, formerly of Stuttgart, wellknown Arkansas entreprene­ur, passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021. He was born July 6, 1929, in Stuttgart, the son of Harold Richmond and LuVema Ives.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Marilu Harper Ives; and his son, Larry Ives.

Survivors are two sons, Tommy (Donna) Ives of Hot Springs and Garry (Gina) Ives of Stuttgart; daughter, Sharon (Darrell) Dickson of Hot Springs; daughter-in-law, Michele Ives of Wheatley; grandchild­ren, Heather (Eric) Burns, Daren (Charlene) Ives, Brett (Dagian) Barker, Deena (Shane) Fisher, Tina (Ryan) Harvey, Jennifer (Chris) Baugh and Jacqueline Fowler; one step-grandson, Clint Butcher; and 16 great-grandchild­ren.

Mr. Ives quit school at age 14 to work with his dad on the farm. At age 18 he bought his first truck and trailer to haul commoditie­s during the off-season. In 1961, he started Terminal Truck Brokers and in 1984 he began Harold Ives Trucking Company starting with 40 trucks and 70 trailers and growing to 500 trucks and over 1100 trailers, which he sold in 1999. He was appointed by then-Gov. Bill Clinton to serve on the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission from 1987-1994. In 1996 Mr. and Mrs. Ives were named Garland County Farm Family of the Year.

Some other of Mr. Ives ventures were farms in Stuttgart and Wheatley, cattle farms in DeValls Bluff and Texas, a hunting club and a western store. He was also a former member of the Board of Directors of First National Bank in Stuttgart. He started flying in 1950 spraying his own crops and continued flying until 1998.

Visitation will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Lone Tree Cemetery chapel with funeral services following at 2 p.m. by Turpin Funeral Home of Stuttgart.
