DUMAS — Vida Faye Colclasure Hill,

-

age 89, of Dumas, Ark., passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on June 26, 2021. She was born March 6, 1932, with her twin sister, Bessie Mae, in Lonoke, Arkansas, to the late William and Chellie Colclasure. Alongside her five siblings, she was raised in Lonoke and spoke of her childhood with fondness. It was also in Lonoke that she first saw and met the love of her life as he stepped off the bus wearing his WWII Army uniform. Everett Norwood Hill became her husband on June 9, 1948. They then moved to Dumas, Arkansas, in 1958, where they laid down lifelong roots raising their four children and farming 17 miles away in Watson. Her devoted husband of 58 years was by her side until his death in 2006.

Faye was an exceptional wife and mother by any standard. She took great pride in keeping a clean, warm, happy home while feeding, caring for and loving on her family and anyone who came to visit. She and her husband led their family by example in many ways including their faith in God, love of America and devotion to family. In her younger years, she was talented in cooking, sewing, painting, writing poetry, and ceramics. She loved all children, and they were just drawn to her. Anytime a child walked into the room she would light up, this was especially true when it came to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Faye will be remembered for her warm nature, devotion to her family and her unshakeable faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was a faithful member of Hopedale Missionary Baptist Church in Winchester, Arkansas, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and choir member.

In addition to her parents and husband, Faye was also preceded in death by one brother, Pete Colclasure: three sisters, Jerldean Hall, Bessie Mae Watson, and Ruby Randall: two grandsons, Matthew Huxley Lewellen and Ryan Kelly Murphy; and a great-granddaughter, Anna Faye Ramsey.
