KENNETH RAY HARGIS

entered eternal rest on Thursday, July 22nd, in Jacksonville, Ark. He immediately met his Lord and Savior at the gates of heaven and then had a joyous reunion with his parents and grandparents.

Ken, as he was known to his family was born the second son, of the late Rev. Maurice Brown Hargis and Tomie “Maxine” Callaway, on April 3, 1949, in Warren, Ark.

Kenneth graduated from Warren High School in 1967, and the graduated from the University of Arkansas – Fayetteville in 1971. Kenneth then entered the U.S. Air Force on August 4, 1971, serving as a telecommunications systems control technician until March 15, 1983. He received several awards in the service of his country, including small arms expert marksmanship ribbon, the Air Force Overseas Service Long Tour Ribbon, along with the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters and several other awards. Kenneth was an ardent supporter of the U.S. military veterans. He contributed financially on a regular basis to many different veteran organizations.

Kenneth was a gentle, kind soul who had a wry sense of humor. He was always ready to tease his sisters-in-law or his nieces and nephews with a sparkle in his eye. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Kenneth is survived by three brothers and their wives, Charles Allen (Susie) of Monticello, Calvin Leon (Sandra) of El Dorado, and Reuben Wayne (Pam) of Jacksonville, Ark. He is also survived by four nephews, Jeremy (Brooke), Brian (Heather), Robert (Jennifer), and Adam Hargis; as well as two nieces, Sarah (Jeremy) Lovette, and Lora (Michael) Linder. Ken is also survived by five great-nephews and six great-nieces. They are Cash, Bentley, Grant, and Andrew Hargis, and Ian Linder. The great-nieces are Rylee and Ashlynn Lovette, Chloe Allison, Breanna, Abagail, Chloe Cate, and Bayleigh Hargis.

A graveside memorial will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Warren, Ark., at 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, July 27., Bro. Cliff Hutchins and Bro. Seth Tucker of First Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Ark., will officiate. All arrangements are by Frazer’s Funeral Home in Warren, Ark.
