DEBORAH HAZEL DEAN,

age 71, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021. She was born on December 4, 1949, in Little Rock, Ark.

Debby grew up in North Little Rock. She graduated from North Little Rock High School and State College of Arkansas (now UCA), obtaining a master’s degree in clinical sociology. Her career in the medical field included Doctors Hospital and UAMS, where she retired as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, instructin­g nurses on the administra­tion of chemothera­py and counseling with families.

She also served as an adjunct professor at UALR. She enjoyed traveling to Mexico, Belize, and Santa Fe, N.M., collecting pottery, artifacts, and anything rustic.

Debby was a lifelong animal lover and took in animals that others did not want. She was of the Nazarene faith, growing up attending church at First Church of the Nazarene in North Little Rock.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Blanche Dean; and survived by her brother Lyndel (Sue) Dean of Cabot; nieces Cindy Pearson of Maumelle and Amy (Brian) Jones of Sherwood; and five great-nieces and nephews. Her small companion dogs, Che Che, Cha Cha, and Gypsy will miss her dearly.

A private family service will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, we know Debby would be honored if memorials were made to the Humane Society of Pulaski County, St. Jude’s Research Center or The Nature Conservanc­y.
