TUESDAY Trippp and Sylamore Special Concert

NEWPORT — Arkansas Steel and KASU Monster Groovez Concerts will present Trippp and Sylamore Special in concert at 7 p.m. at the Terry Scoggins Memorial Stage on Front Street. Trippp is a young band from Jonesboro whose sound includes Memphis blues, Kentucky bluegrass and Southern rock. Sylamore Special is a Mountain View-based group that won the 2021 Youth in Bluegrass contest at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri.

Moderna COVID-19 Vaccines

COVID Drive-Thru Testing

NEWPORT — Unity Health-Harris Medical Center, 1205 McLain St., will offer COVID drive-thru testing from 8 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday. Participan­ts are asked to enter from McLain Street to the registrati­on/ER entrance and remain in their vehicles.

Adult Education Open Enrollment

BEEBE — Enrollment for General Educationa­l Developmen­t classes is open at Arkansas State University-Beebe Adult Education centers, as well as at the Augusta Public Library and Westside High School in Greers Ferry. The centers provide free instructio­n and testing to students ages 18 and older who are seeking a GED diploma. Morning, afternoon and evening sessions are available. Community Immunizati­on Drive

NEWPORT — Falwell Medical Clinic, 1301 McLain St., is having a Community Immunizati­on Drive until Aug. 28 for Jackson County residents, who will receive COVID-19 vaccinatio­ns for a chance to win gift cards or local services. To be eligible to enter the drawing, people must be at least 18 years old and fully vaccinated and present a vaccinatio­n card to Falwell Medical Clinic, with supporting photo ID. Master Gardeners Online Training

Registrati­on for the Arkansas Master Gardeners program’s online fall training is open. Five sessions will be conducted via Zoom from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sept. 22 and 29, and Oct. 6, 20 and 27. The fee of $75 includes the Master Gardener handbook. Trainees will learn

about basic botany, soils and fertilizer, pest control, landscape design, vegetable and fruit gardening, annuals and perennials, and more. Each new Master Gardener is paired with a local mentor. Townsite Tours

POWHATAN — Townsite Tours will resume at Powhatan Historic State Park, 4414 Arkansas 25, at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays upon request. Participan­ts on these two-hour tours will get the inside scoop on all the park’s historic buildings and learn about Arkansas’ history. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 6 to 12. Children ages 5 and younger will be admitted free. Group rates are available for large families and groups of 15 or more. BATESVILLE — The Main Street Batesville Farmers Market is open from 8 a.m. to noon the first, third and fifth Saturdays of the month through October in the Citizens Bank Pocket Park.

Walk With a Doc

BATESVILLE — Everyone is invited to take a step toward better health by participat­ing in a free 60-minute Walk With a Doc at 10 a.m. the third Saturday of every month. Historic Kids Make and Take

POWHATAN — Join the park staff at Powhatan Historic State Park, 4414 Arkansas 25, for a Historic Kids Make and Take from 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. Sept. 4. Participan­ts will be guided in making two historic past-times and learn about what life was like growing up in the late 1800s. The program is part of Powhatan’s Living History Academy, a program designed to introduce younger audiences to historic learning experience­s that they help bring to life. Growing With Grief

BATESVILLE — The University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville Community Education and White River Health System will present Growing With Grief from 6-8 p.m. Sept. 23. Instructor Maggie Beshears, a licensed profession­al counselor, will teach participan­ts how to recognize the symptoms of grief and learn coping skills to help them survive the death of a loved one. Virtual Workshop for Caregivers

Karaoke for a Cause

BATESVILLE — October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, so Family Violence Prevention Inc. will host a fundraisin­g event, Karaoke for a Cause, at 7 p.m. Oct. 2 at The Main Street Loft, on the third floor of the Barnett Building, which houses the Independen­ce County Library. Sponsors of various levels are needed for this evening of song, laughter and community. Proceeds from the event will support the services of Family Violence Prevention, including Safehaven Shelter for Women, Taylor House for Men, the outreach office and the Batesville Rape Crisis Center.
