KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Ruth “Missy” Evelyn (Clark) Burnett Moody,

76, of Knoxville, Tenn., passed away in her sleep on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. Missy was born on July 15, 1944, in Oklahoma City, Okla., the daughter of Dr. Percy LeMon Clark and Esther Clark, who preceded her in death. Missy was a graduate of Fayettevil­le High School (Class of 1962) and earned her Master of Arts degree at the University of Arkansas (Class of 1970) both

in Fayettevil­le, Ark. After moving to Little Rock, Ark., Missy worked for Arkansas State Parks, the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR), the Arkansas Attorney General’s Office, and the Arkansas Governor’s Office. In 1980, Missy moved to Lanham, Md., and married her late husband, Lieutenant Colonel Robert “Bob” W. Moody in 1983. She worked for Hamel & Park and Sonnensche­in, Nath & Rosenthal, both located in Washington, D.C. Upon retirement in 1994, Missy and Bob moved to Fort Valley, Va., where Missy most loved hosting and entertaini­ng family and friends together with Bob and their beloved dog, Jesse, at “Moody’s Muddle.” Missy is survived by her sons, Robert W. Moody, Jr., and Mike (Traci) Burnett; daughters, Martha (Marty) Iroff, Margaret Moody (Charles Lin), and Nicole Burnett; and grandchild­ren, Naomi Lin, Robert Lin, Frances Lin, Zack Weybright, Mace Hennessey, Mandi Mikes, Kelli Mikes, Jacob Burnett, Anna (Jared) Iroff-Bailey, Ellen (Mark) Swick, Rachel Iroff and great-grandchild­ren, Nora Swick and Ava Iroff- Bailey. Missy is also survived by her brother, Andy (Lea Anne) Clark and her niece, Pheobe Clark. Missy will be honored at a private memorial service and celebratio­n of life in Knoxville, Tenn., on September 24, 2021, at 12:30 p.m. The Memorial service will be held at the East Tennessee State Veteran’s Cemetery, 2200 E. Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, Tenn., 37920, where she will be interred. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Missy Burnett Moody to the Wounded Warrior Project, a charitable organizati­on very near and dear to Missy’s heart.
