MALVERN — Patrick Hunter Carver,

age 71, of Malvern, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2021, in Little Rock. He was born October 31, 1949, to William Gordon and Wilodean Hunter Carver in Malvern, Arkansas. He graduated from Malvern High School in 1967. After high school he obtained a BA in biology from Arkansas Tech and worked on graduate courses as time and selective service would permit. He served seven years in the Arkansas National Guard. He had a distinguis­hed career as a Scientist which included 20 years in Basic Laboratory Research at the VA and UAMS. Following that he worked as a writer for the National Toxicology Project, and as a Quality Assurance Auditing Manager. His work had significan­t global impact on the developmen­t of new drugs for humans and animals. After retirement he quietly used these skills to serve his community. Pat served on the County Judge’s Research Advisory Team, was a member of Friends of the Library and Solid Waste Administra­tion Boards, and Grant Writer. He was a lover and writer of history and endeavored to preserve Hot Spring County’s oldest documents. Being a lifelong outdoorsma­n, he was happiest when walking on a mountain trail, identifyin­g birds, or cultivatin­g new plants. He had the heart of an explorer and held special memories of trips with his brother to fish and hunt in the Alaskan bush.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilodean and Bill Carver, and his brother, William Maden. He loved his family and is survived by his wife and partner, Danna Rosell Carver and beloved Sheltie, Skye, his brother, Michael Gordon Carver (Diane), his sisters-in-law, Dr. Rosie Rosell, Annie Langston, and Mary Ellen Greer (Dyer), nieces and nephews: Danica Carver-Moyer, Hunter Carver (Franki Jill), Danny Greer, Katie Greer, Marc Langston, Ellie Test, and Greg Maden; and grand-nephews and nieces, Andrew Moyer, Aspen Carver, and Isaiah Carver.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Arkansas Community Foundation, an animal welfare or history preservati­on group, or perform a volunteer activity in the community in Pat’s name. Graveside services will be held on Friday morning, August 20, 2021, at ten o’clock in Shadowlawn Cemetery with Judge Dennis Thornton officiatin­g, and under the direction of J. A. Funk Funeral Home.
