RICHARD RILEY SCIFRES,

-

age 72, died on August 7,2021, in Little Rock. He was born in Little Rock, on September 27, 1948. He was a graduate of Ouachita Baptist University and worked for several years in outside sales. For the last 20 years he enjoyed sharing his love for the Lord and for music, teaching guitar at Baptist Prep. Richard spent much of his time volunteering at First Baptist Church where he was devotedly involved in choir, orchestra, vacation Bible School, the Family Life Center, the Living Christmas Tree, and many small group studies. Giving back was important to Richard, so he arranged music and presented programs alongside Debbie Tucker and Curtis Arnold at local retirement communities and nursing homes. Sharing his faith through music was his greatest joy.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Coy and Claudia Scifres. He is survived by his sister, Sandra Nuckols and husband Jim Nuckols of Houston; nephew, Hal Nuckols and wife Kimberly Nuckols of Atlanta, Georgia; four great-nieces, Anna, Brooks, Katharine, and Caroline Nuckols; and many cousins and friends.

The family wishes to thank Briarwood Skilled Nursing/Therapy for providing the loving care Richard received. Also, we want to thank Debbie and Harold Tucker for demonstrating their love for Richard, not only when immediate family could not be in Little Rock, but also for sharing the responsibilities of his care for many weeks.

A memorial service at First Baptist Church will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made in Richard’s name to First Baptist Church, 62 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock, Ark., 72212-3059.
